Hennie van Coller

Hennie van Coller is extraordinary professor (North West University, Potchefstroom) and research fellow and distinguished professor (emeritus) at the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein. He has written and edited many academic publications. His translations of poems by Luuk Gruwez, ‘Bandelose gedigte’, were published in 2009 and his own volume of poems, ‘Soom’ with several translations of Dutch poems, was published in 2011. His translation of Hugo Claus’ ‘Sugar’ (Suiker) received the prize for the best new drama production at the Free State Art Festival in 2017. Van Coller received several prizes and awards such as the Gustav Preller Prize for Literary Theory and Criticism (1997) and the D.F. Malan-medal for an extraordinary contribution to publications in Afrikaans (2018).
