Rhomayda A. Aimah

Rhomayda A. Aimah studied Indonesian Languages and Cultures at Leiden University and is since 2024 a PhD researcher at Leiden Institute for Area Studies (LIAS), examining novels in multiple languages on Dutch colonialism in Indonesia. Based mostly in Indonesia, she also teaches Dutch for History students at Gadjah Mada University.

Her translation debut is the Indonesian edition (2024) of 'De postkoloniale spiegel' (Honings et al. (eds.) 2021) and her second project is translating De mooiste brieven van Kartini by Lara Nuberg and Feba Sukmana from Dutch into Indonesian with Daniel Tangkilisan.

Rhomayda’s interests include Indonesian literature, languages and cultures, history of Dutch colonialism in Indonesia, and Dutch-Indies literature. Rhomayda A. Aimah and Daniel F.M. Tangkilisan sometimes translate together.
