Annemarie Estor

Annemarie Estor (b. 1973) was born in the Netherlands and lives in Antwerp, Belgium. She is a poet, as well as a text editor and teacher. Estor holds a PhD in Literature, which she gained with a comparative study of the work of Jeanette Winterson. Her writing is marked by a strong interest in genre-blending, particularly the interplay between poetry, music and the visual arts.

Estor published her debut poetry collection, entitled ‘Firethorn Me’, in 2010. Since then, she has built up a substantial body of work, earning several major literary awards, including the Herman de Coninck Poetry Prize in Belgium and the Jan Campert Poetry Prize in the Netherlands. In 2024 she was awarded the American Frederick Turner Prize for Poetry for her body of work as a whole. Her most recent collections are ‘The Excess’ (May 2025) and ‘Villa Allucina’ (March 2026).
