Leonard Nolens

Leonard Nolens (1947-2025) was a highly acclaimed poet, a diarist and a translator. Being one of the most important Dutch language poets he received many literary prizes and ultimately was awarded the prestigious Prize of Dutch Letters in 2012. He lived to write and in his poetry and diaries constructed his life and identity. The most important development in his poetry was breaking out of saying 'I' to use a inclusive 'we'. For many years he was nominated as a candidate for the Noble Prize for Literature.
