Noëlle Smit

Dutch illustrator Noëlle Smit (b. 1972) strikes a fine balance in her illustrations, which are both classic and humorous, melancholic and lively. She likes the style of illustrations from the 1950s, and that influence filters through in her work. ‘Fiet Wants to Run’, with text by Bibi Dumon Tak, was chosen as the best picture book of 2011 in the Netherlands.
