Anna Patrucco Becchi
Anna Patrucco Becchi (b. 1965) has studied Philosophy, German and Italian literature in Italy and Germany. In 1985 she began her carreer translating nonfiction from German into Italian. In the last twenty years she has specialized herself in children's literature and started translating mainly children's books, novels for young adults and graphic novels, also from Dutch and English. She has translated works by authors including Paul Biegel, Marjolijn Hof, Annet Huizing, Sjoerd Kuyper, Benny Lindelauf, Annet Schaap, Annie M.G. Schmidt, Janneke Schotveld and Maren Stoffels.
Three times was she shortlisted for the Italian literary prize Premio Strega Ragazze e Ragazzi: 2017 with 'Negen open armen' by Benny Lindelauf, 2018 with 'Hotel De Grote L' by Sjoerd Kuyper and 2019 with 'Hoe ik per ongeluk een boek schreef' by Annet Huizing. For her translation of Annet Huizing's novel she was finally awarded with the Premio Strega Ragazze e Ragazzi 2019 for the best translation sponsored by the Bologna Children's Book Fair.
