Claudia Di Palermo

Claudia Di Palermo (b. 1967) graduated with a degree in Dutch literature and language. Since 1999, she has been active as a cultural intermediary between Italy and the Netherlands. For more than 15 years she has been an advisor to Italian publishers on Dutch literature. She has built up a varied and impressive oeuvre as a literary translator, including titles by F. Bordewijk, Jan Brokken, Arnon Grunberg, Frans Kellendonk, Cees Nooteboom, Jan Wolkers, Jan Jacob Slauerhoff and Willem Frederik Hermans.

Di Palermo regularly makes use of her expertise by working as an editor, a moderator of translation workshops and a mentor to new literary translators. Her experience also covers teaching at the academic level, both for Italian and Dutch institutes and universities. In 2011 she received the Dutch Literature Foundation Prize.
