Emma Rault

Emma Rault is a writer and a translator from Dutch and German into English. Her book-length translations include ‘Ghosts of Berlin’ by Rudolph Herzog (Melville House, 2019) and ‘The Dandy’ by Nina Polak (Strangers Press, 2020). She has also contributed shorter translations to Literary Hub, New Books in German, Asymptote, ANMLY, no man’s land, and other publications. She regularly translates material for various museums, universities, magazines and arts organizations, with clients including ArtEZ Press, Amsterdam University Press, ArtReview, and Holland Festival. Her own writing appears in Guernica, the LA Review of Books, The Cut and elsewhere. She is the recipient of the 2017 Geisteswissenschaften International Nonfiction Translators Prize, and was a translator-in-residence at the 2019 Crossing Border Festival in The Hague. She lives in Los Angeles.
