Laura Vroomen

Laura Vroomen (b. 1972) obtained her diploma in Dutch literary translation from University College London in 2004 and continues to attend courses and workshops. She has been a full-time translator of Dutch into English since 2007. She has translated both fiction and nonfiction books for UK, US and Australian publishers, excerpts for Dutch and Flemish publishers wanting to sell foreign rights, as well as books and excerpts for self-publishing Dutch/Flemish authors.

Her translations include for fiction:

  • ‘The Ice-Cream Makers’ by Ernest van der Kwast
  • ‘Back to the Coast’ by Saskia Noort
  • ‘Richard Revisited’ by Els Launspach

 

She also translated these nonfiction titles:

  • ‘China and the West’ by Fokke Obbema
  • ‘Letters Never Sent’ by Mirjam Bolle
  • ‘Hunting the Hunters’ by Laurens de Groot
