Sherry Macdonald

Sherry Macdonald (b. 1949) is a freelance translator based in Amsterdam, specialised in translating literary nonfiction and fiction from Dutch into English. She has translated authors such as Tijs Goldschmidt, Maarten Doorman, Diane Broeckhoven, Hans Op de Beeck and Philibert Schogt.

She has received various awards and recommendations. Her translation ‘Daalder’s Chocolates’ by Philibert Schogt was runner-up for the Vondel Translation Prize 2007, Tonguecat by Peter Verhelst was longlisted for the International IMPAC DUBLIN Literary Award 2005 and her translation ‘Darwin’s Dreampond’ by Thijs Goldschmidt was highly commended by the jury of the 2001 Vondel Translation Prize.
