An Candaele

An Candaele (b. 1959) published her first illustrated picture book in 1995. Her work is particularly versatile: from simple, accessible pictures for young children to more complex illustrations in which she experiments with colour, dimension and perspective. Her compositions are playful and often funny. ‘Sleep Well, Rosalie’ (Slaap lekker, Rosalie), written by Brigitte Minne and published in 2003, brought her international success. Over 100,000 copies have been printed of the Korean version alone.
