Sister!
Hildegard is talking to her psychologist. Her entire life flashes past, but her almost absurdly giggly attitude keeps the audience and the psychologist at something of a distance. With the aid of an almost thriller-like plot, Hildegard’s traumas unfold step by step while the author dives deep into the character’s past. The psychologist plays not just Hildegard’s interlocutor but also the seven characters that have influenced her life profoundly.
A script typical of Peter De Graef, philosophical, filmic and with beautiful metaphors. As if you’re watching a Netflix series, but in the theatre. Major existential issues sit in the seat next to you.TheaterFestival Jury
‘Sister!’ is a script typical of Peter De Graef: philosophical, poetic and at the same time astonishingly carefully composed. Hildegard’s story stimulates our imaginations and explores the boundaries of recognizable experience. What lies behind her relativizing laugh? What is truth and what is a lie? What is the worst thing that can happen to a person? And how can anyone go on after that?
‘Sister!’ is an unusually forceful theatrical thriller. ★★★★Knack Focus
