Diego Puls

Diego Puls (b. 1956) studied Spanish, Dutch language and literature, and translation theory in Amsterdam. He taught translation at the University of Groningen and worked for Van Dale Lexicografie and the Council of the European Union in Brussels.

He translated ‘The Diary of a Young Girl’ (Het achterhuis) by Anne Frank , ‘The Tea Merchants’ (De heren van de thee) by Hella S. Haasse , ‘My Father’s Notebook’ (Spijkerschrift) by Kader Abdolah, ‘Turkish Delight’ (Turks fruit) by Jan Wolkers, ‘Het fregatschip Johanna Maria' by Arthur van Schendel, ‘A Posthumous Confession’ (Een nagelaten bekentenis) by Marcellus Emants, ‘The Book of Everything’ (Het boek van alle dingen) by Guus Kuijer and ‘The Gardens of Dorr’ (De tuinen van Dorr) by Paul Biegel.

Nonfiction translations into Spanish include the titles ‘Opgespoorde wonderen' by Rudy Kousbroek, ‘The Passage to Europe’ (De passage naar Europa) by Luuk van Middelaar and ‘Argentijnse avonden' by Carolijn Visser.

Additionally, he has translated poetry by Stefan Hertmans, Luuk Gruwez, Erik Spinoy, Peter Theunynck, Kurt De Boodt, Arjen Duinker, Jules Deelder, Eva Gerlach, K. Michel, Hester Knibbe, Joke van Leeuwen, Anne Vegter and Tjêbbe Hettinga.
