Irina Leichenko

Irina Leichenko (b. 1981) has lived in the Netherlands since 2006. In 2009 she graduated as a translator from Dutch into Russian. She translates fiction, nonfiction and children’s literature. She has translated works by Ilja Leonard Pfeiffer, Sjoerd Kuyper, Annet Schaap, Gideon Samson, Tommy Wieringa and Jan Brokken, among others. In 2022, she was nominated for the The Korney Chukovsky Literary Award for her translation of ‘Robin en Suze’ by Sjoerd Kuyper and in 2015 for the Nora Gal Prize for ‘Zusya on the Roof’, a story by Nicole Krauss.
