Marie Hooghe

Marie Hooghe (b. 1947) has been a freelance translator of children’s and youth literature, novels, novellas, plays and biographies since 1978. She has built up an impressive oeuvre of translations from Dutch into French, including works by Hugo Claus, Louis Paul Boon, Jef Geeraerts, Ivo Michiels, Erwin Mortier, Kristien Hemmerechts and Paul Van Loon. She was awarded a number of prizes, such as the Prix Amédée-Pichot de la Ville d’Arles for her translation of Marcel by Erwin Mortier in 2003 and the Prix SCAM de la Traduction littéraire in 2014.
