Waltraud Hüsmert

Waltraud Hüsmert (b. 1951) majored in Dutch Studies, German Studies and art history in Berlin and Leiden. Since the 1980s she has been active as a translator in Berlin. She has received the following distinctions and awards for her translations: Officier in de Kroonorde (an honorary title in Belgium), the translation prize of the Kulturkreis der Deutschen Wirtschaft, the Else Otten translation prize, the Martinus Nijhoff translation prize and the Flemish Culture Prize. Her work includes novels, nonfiction, poetry and graphic novels. She has translated work by W.F. Hermans and the nonfiction book Europe, Oh Europe! by Geert Buelens.
