Four German translations nominated for Jugendliteraturpreis

The prestigious Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis nominated four German translations of Dutch and Flemish children's literature.

A title for every age:

  • 5+ 'Hieronymus' by Thé Tjong-Khing (Moritz Verlag);
  • 10+ 'Gips' by Anna Woltz and translator Andrea Kluitmann (Carlsen Verlag);
  • 12+ 'Krasshüpfer' by Simon van der Geest, illustrator Karst-Janneke Rogaar and translator Mirjam Pressler (Thienemann-Esslinger Verlag);
  • 14+ 'Eisvogelsommer' (Fifteen Wild Summers) by Jan de Leeuw and translator Rolf Erdorf (Gerstenberg Verlag).

The award ceremony will follow at 13 October, during the Frankfurt Book Fair 2017.

In 2016, Flanders and the Netherlands were Guest of Honour of the Frankfurt Book Fair. The number of literary translations into German tripled compared to previous years.
