Ard Posthuma

Ard Posthuma (b. 1942) is mainly a translator of poetry. He has translated Dutch, Flemish and Frisian poets, such as Leonard Nolens, Gerrit Kouwenaar, Martinus Nijhoff, Cees Nooteboom and many others. He lived for a year in Berlin at the invitation of the DAAD Kulturprogramm and was awarded the Brockway Prize for his translations of Dutch poetry. Ard Posthuma translates in both directions, between Dutch and German. In Holland he is well known for his complete translation of Goethe’s Faust I and II.
