Rainer Kersten

Rainer Kersten (b. 1964) studied Dutch and German literature in Berlin, and since 1995 has worked as a freelance translator, mentor and adjudicator of translations and books for institutions and publishers. In 2014 he was awarded the Else Otten Prize for his translation of The Latecomer by Dimitri Verhulst. His other translations include work by Frans Kellendonk, Ilja Leonard Pfeijffer and Arnon Grunberg. He also translated three theatre texts by Tom Lanoye: ‘To War’, ‘Mamma Medea’ and ‘Queen Lear’.
