Verena Kiefer (b. 1964) studied literature and languages. She has worked as a representative for a big publishing house of children's literature, travelling around selling books to booksellers. While doing so she got the opportunity to translate her first book from Dutch into German, which was published in 1996. Not only does she translate children's books but also quality fiction; and not only books but every text in Dutch she has been offered to translate so far. She has been teaching Dutch at the University of Siegen since 2010. Her translations include novels by Henri Van Daele, Stefan Boonen, Frank Westerman, Douwe Draaisma and Jan Paul Schutten.
