Toon Tellegen

Dutch Toon Tellegen (b. 1941), a family doctor by profession, became famous primarily for his poetic, philosophical animal stories about Squirrel, Ant, Mole, Hedgehog and other animals, who are cautiously trying to find their way in an incomprehensible world. His many works include fairy tales, children’s books, and poetry and prose for adults. It’s no surprise that his oeuvre as a whole has won him both the Theo Thijssen Prize and the Constantijn Huygens Prize.
