An ode to the imagination

Oskar

Jacques & Lise

Oskar is a special toy dinosaur. Ever since a little boy received Oskar as a present, the two have been inseparable. So when the boy suddenly loses his buddy, he doesn’t just accept it, but sets off fearlessly in search of the creature. This is the start of a fantastic adventure in which mountains are moved, seas are crossed and the two friends face great dangers.

A great creative and imaginative adventure full of surrealistic braveness and subtle humor

The boy dreams up an adventurous water world while trying to find Oskar. Initially, his search takes him to small ponds, but soon his imagination lands him among the gigantic whales of the ocean. Every time he thinks he may have found Oskar, he’s disappointed: it was only something that looked like his dino from a distance. And so the search continues. Luckily, in the end the two friends are reunited.

‘Oskar’ is a children’s book without words, illustrated primarily in green, salmon pink and white, with an eye for detail and images that speak. Jacques & Lise don’t need words to create their world: each page offers a fresh surprise and makes you laugh out loud. The cover of ‘Oskar’ earned the illustrator duo the Golden Award at the Global Illustration Awards in Frankfurt.
