Four new Hindi translations of Flemish picture books
A&A Book Trust, an Indian non-profit organisation, aims to make ‘the most beautiful picture books in the world’ available to all Indian children. The organisation was principally set up to give children and young people in the far flung villages of Uttarakhand (in the North of India) access to books and information. Arundhati Deosthale and her husband Arvind Kumar are the driving forces behind this beautiful reading promotion project.
Just before the end of 2017, A&A Book Trust added four new Hindi translations from Flanders to their list:
- Little White Fish ('Klein wit visje') by Guido Van Genechten
- What’s Inside That Crate? ('Wat zit er in die kist?') by Pieter Gaudesaboos
- Bernie & Flora ('Berre & Fleur') by Annemie Berebrouckx
- 'Happy Birthday, Rosy' ('Rosalie is jarig') by An Candaele and Brigitte Minne
Since 2009, A&A Book Trust has published sixteen translations of Flemish picture books with the support of Flanders Literature. These are books by renowned illustrators such as Guido Van Genechten, Kristien Aertssen, Carll Cneut and An Candaele.
